Alexis for Washoe County Commission

I was born in Reno and raised in a loving and politically engaged home in Sparks, Nevada. My parents were always at a community meeting or volunteering on community projects. My parents instilled in me a passion for public service.

I earned my bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University’s George H.W. Bush School of Public Policy.  Missing the mountains and western spirit of my home, I was drawn back to northern Nevada after graduation.

I completed my master’s degree in public administration and public policy at the University of Nevada and have spent over a decade in municipal service.

I’ve also worked in the private sector, including at the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival and as executive director of a fantastic non-profit, Kids & Horses.

I live in the old Southwest with my husband, Matthew Tuma, and our daughter, Zora, who was born in 2021. We love riding bikes, camping, and all things arts and culture.
